Published May 30, 2019

May 30, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce Oxnard Guerreros FC as a new member starting with the 2019 Fall Season.

Based in Oxnard (Calif.), Oxnard Guerreros FC will begin play in the UPSL Western Conference, and will host its home matches at Del Sol Stadium (1800 Camino Del Sol, Oxnard, CA 93030). The 3,100-person capacity facility is the only soccer-specific stadium in the Tri-County area, and is in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are pleased to welcome Oxnard Guerreros FC to the Western Conference. Thanks to the hard work of Ty Otto and Head Coach Juan Florez, the Guerreros FC has what it takes to take on a full-year model. American soccer should be encouraged by Guerreros FC's progress to cultivate a sustainable top-down club, we're excited to see them compete in the UPSL this Fall Season."

Ty Otto is Owner and CEO of Oxnard Guerrero FC. A Southern California native, Otto, 27, holds a BA in Marketing Communications from Thousand Oaks (Calif.)'s California Lutheran University. A former high school and collegiate player, Otto started the club in 2016.

Oxnard Guerreros FC Owner and CEO Ty Otto said, "We're focused on development, and by going year-round and adding a Reserve Team we're able to keep our player in-house instead of them going to various teams for the second half of the year. The dream of traveling and playing soccer throughout the United States is now real and alive in Ventura County."

Oxnard Guerreros FC has participated in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) since 2017, and now operates a thriving Reserve Team and a growing Youth Academy with youth players and teams in most age groups.

Juan Florez is Head Coach of Oxnard Guerreros FC. A native of Colombia, Florez played briefly for Millionarios Bogota before heading to the United States to pursue coaching and now has coached at the collegiate, Pro Development and professional levels for more than 35 years.

Oxnard Guerreros FC Head Coach Juan Florez said, "This is exciting for us to be joining the UPSL, which is very successful and very competitive the whole year round. We have now two teams, and a lot of our players want to play in the UPSL, and that's going to raise the level of our teams. They all want to go play in the UPSL."

Javier Figueroa, 36, is Head Coach of Oxnard Guerreros FC Reserve Team. A native of Mexico, Figueroa graduated from Oxnard High School and played two years at Oxnard College. He earned a BA in Film and Television from UCLA before returning to coaching with Oxnard United FC and as an assistant at California Lutheran University.

'Guerreros Dos' Head Coach Javier Figueroa said, "It's going to be a process but we've established a solid foundation and incorporated the community and the local talent. I think we're creating a pipeline of younger talent to the club and we'll be able to better develop those players as part of the UPSL."
