NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Inter Orlando Academys Daniel OBrien

November 14, 2019 – Los Angeles – Inter Orlando Academy midfielder Daniel O'Brien has been selected UPSL National Player of the Week.

Born in Charlotte (N.C.) but raised in London, O'Brien scored a highlight reel goal and had two assists in a 5-0 victory over Deportivo Lake Mary in a UPSL 2019 Fall Season Southeast Conference Florida Central Division I game on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019. O'Brien played 90 minutes as Inter Orlando Academy (7-0-1 overall) won its fifth consecutive game.

O'Brien recently graduated from DeLand (Fla.)'s Stetson University and was on trial with a number of European-based clubs before returning to Florida. He currently has one goal and four assists in three games for Inter Orlando Academy this season.

The UPSL National Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by members of the league and journalists covering the UPSL, and decided by the fans via Twitter poll.

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 500-plus teams targeted for 2020 Spring Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining UPSL national minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
