August 20, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is adding a National 7v7 Division in its Central Conference North Division with the Cowtown Soccer League.
The UPSL is pleased to announce that effective immediately with the 2019 Fall Season, the Central Conference North Division will integrate Cowtown Soccer League as a league partner and host of its regional 7v7 competitions.
United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "North Texas is so full of club teams and players looking for something more to develop their game, and it's always been a goal of the UPSL to integrate the game in all its forms so long as it's improving players and coaches. This also is an excellent branding opportunity for the UPSL, and 7v7 is a tremendous breeding ground for community-based players. We think that in many ways 7v7 acts as a feeder to our top UPSL tiers. The structure is ready to make this connection with the Cowtown Soccer League. Marc Asmode has created an outstanding 7v7 league, and our goal continues to be to unite clubs and players from across America into an Open Play System where teams can be part of the global FIFA-mandated Promotion and Relegation standard already in place in soccer nations across the globe."
Founded in 2008, Cowtown Soccer League currently features more than 40 teams in its Men's Open Division, and is home to nearly 1,000 players every week in its seasonal youth-to-adult league. Owned and operated by Marc Asmode, UPSL Cowtown Division's 2019 Fall Season will begin in September and will continue through a four-team playoff in November. The winner qualifies for the UPSL National 7v7 Championship.
UPSL Cowtown Division Manager Marc Asmode said, "Soccer is my passion. Last year was Cowtown Soccer League's 10th anniversary and I wanted to do something unique, by taking 7v7 soccer to a national level. I've worked on the idea with UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara, the UPSL model to create the first UPSL National 7v7 Division, and we're going to connect all the great 7v7 leagues around the United States under one umbrella to create a true 7v7 national champion. It's about time there is a real national 7v7 competition.
The new UPSL Cowtown Division will host many of the UPSL Division I, UPSL Division II and UPSL Division III member teams. New clubs also are expected to join in the near future, with a number of others within the marketplace expressing interest. The UPSL Cowtown Division winner also will receive a cash prize.
The UPSL Central Conference North Division currently features seven UPSL Division I teams, 10 UPSL Division II teams and eight UPSL Division III teams. All members clubs are eligible for entry into the UPSL Cowtown 7v7 Division.
